Mochi found her calling by touching something she had been expected to leave alone. This is inconvenient news for anyone trying to teach Mochi to leave things alone.

A silver shimmer led her through Windowland to a garden beneath an enormous moon. She tapped a crescent jewel. Flowers opened. A hurt little creature stood up. Mochi checked her paw. It looked much the same, which seemed a modest appearance for such useful equipment.

Now moonlight follows the grey stripes of her coat when somebody needs care. Her light-blue eyes find the trembling creature behind the grand entrance, or the tired friend insisting she is perfectly fine. Miso is especially accomplished at the second trick. Mochi sits beside her until the trick stops working.

Her collar says Mochiwis. The universe has not issued her a larger title she likes better. There are worlds beyond worlds out there, and possibly something fascinating inside the cupboard. She investigates both. Sometimes the bravest thing she discovers is a frightened someone willing to try again.
