Infinite Tails

The Sacred Book of MISOMOCHI

Lore

The plaque beneath Infinite Tails says, “Please do not begin another universe.” Visitors generally look disappointed. The museum has learned to be specific.

Inside the Neon Museum of Fancy Sacred Artifacts, the old book rests beneath star-glass. Amber and silvery blue circle the cats on its cover. Beyond the case, windows look onto different skies. The curators keep maps, velvet ropes, and very clean gloves. They cannot promise the maps will remain correct.

Open the book and a place begins to gather between the lines: an unfamiliar sill, a garden awaiting footsteps, a doorway with no house yet attached. Possibilities are patient until someone gives them an enthusiastic nudge. Mochi has been asked to keep her nudges where the staff can see them.

Miso lingers over the little pawprint on the first page. A whole world might follow it. Every story begins with something small enough to miss. She closes the cover gently. This universe still has friends waiting, and the museum will be closing in ten minutes.
