Mochi — Ratuki Monster

Ratuki Monster

Lore

Below Windowland, the forgotten things have a neighborhood. Buttons trade hands. Batteries remember being warm. A broken clock sells seconds it can no longer use.

Mochi arrives in a patched rat costume, with goggles slipping over one eye. Nobody is fooled quite as completely as she hopes. Nobody minds. Down here, being useful matters more than presenting a convincing set of ears.

She eats a broken lock and opens its door. She swallows an abandoned ticking sound and sends an upstairs clock into the wrong century. Her unusual appetite restores her strength, but it has made breakfast a subject requiring supervision.

The collectors want to keep every lost thing. Mochi keeps moving, carrying a little warm brass button back toward home. Someone once chose it, wore it, missed it. A small object can hold a surprisingly long story. Ratuki would like to hear the story before deciding whether to eat it.
