BEHIND THE FRAGRANCE

The story.

At one minute past closing, a small door appeared behind the perfume counter at Closet Curiosa. The door had not been there at midnight. Miso checked the hinges. Mochi checked whether it was a cupboard. Both considered this a thorough investigation.

Inside stood a tea room with a window overlooking the first star anyone had ever wished upon. It was still working. On the table: white tea, rice milk, a curl of orange peel, and two almond sweets. Mochi counted the sweets again after eating one. The arithmetic had become disappointing.

An oak cabinet held a little warmth from every evening somebody had decided to stay. Miso opened it. Cognac and sandalwood drifted into the room, followed by a pinch of spice that had apparently been waiting centuries for an introduction. Jasmine leaned through the window. It had never respected property lines.

Between the tea and the cabinet sat an empty crystal bottle. Miso nudged it into the starlight. Mochi steadied it with one pale paw, which was unusual enough to count as magic. A golden drop gathered at the bottom. Then another. The room was remembering itself.

They carried the bottle back before the door disappeared. It smelled of warm milk tea, soft almond, polished wood, and the particular comfort of finding someone still awake when you come home. The jeweler made two cats for its collar. He charged for one; the other had already taken his chair.

Closet Curiosa keeps it where the last light falls. Sometimes a traveler lifts the stopper and remembers a kitchen on a world too far away to visit. For a moment, the distance seems smaller. Miso sits beside the glass. Mochi checks the drawer for the other almond sweet.

THE SCENT CONCEPT

Creamy tea · soft spice · amber woods

Silky white tea and rice milk meet a delicate almond sweetness, luminous citrus, and the warmth of cognac-aged oak. Sandalwood and soft musk draw the composition close to the skin.

Opening

White tea, bergamot, sweet orange, cool cardamom, a trace of catmint.

Heart

Steamed rice-milk accord, restrained marzipan, airy jasmine and violet, a whisper of cinnamon.

Drydown

Cognac accord, dry oak, sandalwood, white musk, tonka and vanilla, a fine thread of opoponax.

The intended character stays tea-led and creamy. Citrus and cardamom lift the opening; oak gives the sweet heart a dry edge. Marzipan, cinnamon and vanilla remain supporting details. Any animalic warmth is a very soft synthetic fur-and-suede impression beneath the musk.

Original fragrance concept in development. The scent profile is a creative brief; the finished formula, concentration and wear performance are still to be developed and tested.
