Miso — Midnight Watchshade

Lore

Miso occupies the highest shelf. This gives her a fine view of the hall and prevents anyone from using the shelf for its alleged purpose.

As Midnight Watchshade, she follows the moonlit corners with bright blue eyes. Her shadow reaches ahead. A small rustle by the door gets her full attention. A larger rustle in the kitchen receives the attention appropriate to Mochi attempting secrecy.

She checks the sleeping places, waits for the last traveler, and keeps the dark from feeling unattended. Most nights, nothing remarkable happens. She considers those successful nights.

Starlight slips through the window from places impossibly far away. Miso cannot watch all of them. She can watch this hall, where someone she loves is dreaming. Her paws settle beneath her. The shelf remains unavailable.
