Chanel

Lore

Chanel can block a doorway by standing in it. She has spent years learning the more useful skill of making a doorway feel welcoming.

Her blue-silver coat catches the Lakeway sunset. Her rose-pink cape fastens with a little diamond heart. She looks very grand, right up until she lowers her head to help a visitor who is frightened of how grand she looks. This part of the job has never required a crown.

When the lanterns failed above the garden crossing, Abby spotted the trouble. JJ steadied the paving. Bella found the usable path, and Willow went after the missing lens. Chanel stayed beside the smallest travelers. Her long legs could have crossed in a few strides. Their legs were attending a different meeting.

Only when everyone was safe did her tail begin to wag. It was a significant event for nearby furniture. Above them, old starlight reached the lake. Below it, a very large dog made a little more room for someone else. Both sorts of light had traveled somewhere useful.
