Miso found the cassette in a mall that had closed in 1997 and, through an administrative oversight, kept playing music. Mochi pressed rewind. The fountain rose backward. A lost quarter returned to a pocket. Somewhere, a terrible haircut received a second chance.
LASERDOTS bottled the afternoon in clear pink plastic, with mint buttons and two small faces supervising the machinery. The little arcade-alien medallion holds one laugh that nobody thought to record. Shake it gently and the tape refuses to explain whose.
It cannot make you young again. Miso checked the warranty. It can remind you that you were happy before you knew to take a photograph. There is still time to do that again.
