The Twinlight Wand
Princess Lumaquill
Lore
Princess Lumaquill emerges from the feathers with the air of someone whose entrance has been rehearsed. It has. The rehearsal was interrupted by Mochi.
The wand has a blue handle, a long white rod, and a luminous thread joining ordinary paws to a very particular fairy-bird princess. Lumaquill brings pink plumage, a flower tiara, and strong views about anyone stepping on her train. She delivers these views in chirps. Translation is rarely necessary.
Her wandering court gathers stray glimmers and brings them to welcoming windows. Here, Miso and Mochi hold the thread together. When trouble pulls one way, they lean the other. Lumaquill checks the frightened creatures first and her feathers immediately afterward.
From far away, the thread looks too slight to matter. Up close, two friends are holding on to it. Lumaquill would like this recorded, along with the fact that a successful rescue does not excuse chewing the decorative end.
