Something beneath the toy chest has sorted the loose ribbons. This would be helpful if it ever let anyone have them back.

Tangledeep began as a blue woolly toy with more dangling strands than practical sense. One chase sent him under the chest. He found old threads, forgotten bows, and an excellent opportunity to become unreasonable. Soon, every loose end belonged to him.

His little stitched eyes do not quite agree on where to look. His grip has no such uncertainty. When Mochi pulls a ribbon, the whole hidden arrangement tightens. Miso studies the knots before pulling anything. This causes an awkward pause in a household normally devoted to pulling things.

Tangledeep wanted the forgotten scraps to have somewhere to belong. Then he forgot that belonging includes being allowed to leave. Under the chest, his woolly kingdom keeps growing. It is warm, intricate, and increasingly difficult to dust. The next loose thread is already being offered a permanent position.
