Skyscratcher

Celestial Relic

Lore

Miso wanted a ship. Mochi wanted a bed. They built both, which settled the argument and made travel considerably more sensible.

Skyscratcher began as a navy cardboard box with three round windows. Scratching left magic in its ridges. Sunlight and moonlight found the same creases. One evening it rose from the floor. Mochi slept through the launch. Miso recorded this as confidence in the captain.

When Dreadtail broke a portal crossing with enchanted acorns, the box went after the stranded travelers. Small faces appeared at its windows. The floor was familiar, the walls were close, and somebody had remembered to bring a place to lie down.

Now it sails beneath impossible skies with the serious expression of a cardboard box. Outside are distances nobody has finished measuring. Inside, three little windows let the passengers look out together. The universe can be vast. The cabin does not need to be.
