Purrchgate

Lore

Purrchgate looks like a window perch. This is sound planning. A sign saying IMPORTANT COSMIC ENTRANCE would attract the sort of visitors who read signs aloud.

It rests in Andy’s castle tower, where Miso and Mochi watch the crossings. Tired cats can curl up inside without explaining themselves. The shelter does not ask whether they belong to the correct household. Being a tired cat is sufficient paperwork.

At the outer threshold, the sisters study the paths through the Twin Eclipse Observatory. Instruments track distant openings. Inside, someone turns over and goes back to sleep. The research and the nap are equally serious uses of the room.

There are enormous distances beyond the perch. Some travelers arrive carrying more of them than their paws can bear. Purrchgate gives them a small, warm place to put the journey down. Tomorrow, they can decide where to go. Tonight, the window is keeping watch.
