Nine Lives Dice
Bonus Relic
Lore
There are twelve faces on each die and a surprising number of ways for neither of them to be a nine. Mochi has investigated several.
The stones began in a dark temple beyond Windowland. Miso and Mochi brought their light to them, and honey-gold and silver-blue patterns woke inside the marble. Numbers appeared. So did the possibility of another chance. The possibility made no promises about punctuality.
When two nines face upward together, the stones glow. Solar and lunar light curl into one great feline eye above the pedestal. A weary sister feels strength return. The moment is wonderful precisely because nobody can order it to happen.
Miso does not confuse hope with a guarantee. Mochi sometimes asks the dice whether they have considered being more helpful. Then they gather them up and continue. A universe with room for chance also has room for what you choose to do while waiting.
