FURRAISERS
I LIVE IN EVERY CABINET · Cady Landyan
Lore
Three taps came from beneath the sink. Mochi tapped back. The pantry answered. Then a cupboard neither sister remembered owning joined in. The kitchen had developed an alarming amount of participation.
Behind the bowls lay Cady Landyan’s FURRAISERS: I LIVE IN EVERY CABINET. The cover showed Miso and Mochi in their own kitchen. Inside, sentences described what they were doing. The Hinge Wraith reached around a pipe while they examined this unwelcome publishing arrangement.
Every hurried sentence opened another dark doorway. Miso made Mochi slow down. Together they learned that sunlight and moonlight could hold the thresholds closed. On the last page waited a cabinet small enough to fit inside the book. The Wraith’s claim to live in every cabinet was about to become a practical disadvantage.
The sisters held the page open. The creature lunged. The cover shut. Now the book rests in the Haunted Archives, where tiny knocks occasionally come from its spine. The librarians provide a shelf. They have politely declined to provide a cupboard.
