Everspring

Lore

The fountain has no throne, no guard, and no one asking whether you deserve a drink. This is a surprisingly advanced arrangement.

Everspring waits beneath the portal roads, where water has passed through a buried heartstone for longer than anyone has been counting. White stone rises from a pearly basin. Violet crystals catch the falling light. The edge is low enough for small mouths. Whoever planned that part understood visitors.

Miso and Mochi found it on a tired journey through Whiskerways. They sat. Other travelers sat too. There was very little ceremony and quite a lot of relief. Later, the recovered Starglaze Halo rested there with them. Even something that helps others shine can use a quiet minute.

Above, whole worlds hurry about. Below, water rises and falls. A mountain takes a long time to learn its shape. A frightened creature may take a long time to feel safe. Everspring appears willing to wait for both.
