Crimson Wisp

Lore

A red dot appears on the wall. Miso has important responsibilities, deep wisdom, and an immediate scheduling conflict.

Crimson Wisp darts across the room with no visible legs and an unreasonable head start. It climbs things a sensible creature would go around. Miso follows anyway. The shelves briefly become a transportation network.

At the end of each leap, the light is somewhere else. Yet something of its trail stays with her: a bright afterimage, a fraction of space between her and danger. The chase has taught her where her paws can go. This is useful information, although she would still prefer to catch the thing.

Outside, old light crosses enormous distances to reach the window. Inside, one small red speck crosses the carpet and overturns a princess’s priorities. Miso crouches. She has refined the plan. This time, she is quite certain, the universe will cooperate.
