The story.
Miso inspected the ofrenda shelf and found everything in order: marigolds, candlelight, and a perfectly good place to sit. The shoes arrived next. She approved the resemblance and questioned why nobody had included her preferred snacks.
La Calavera carries her familiar chocolate face and dark tail through a garden of orange and yellow. A little skull charm keeps company at the laces. The flowers are stitched in place, which has considerably reduced the sweeping.
The candlelight makes a small circle on the wall. Beyond it, stars keep sending us light from a very long time ago. Miso stays close to the warm part, among the things we keep because somebody mattered.
